A walk that I would like to do again.

In 2016, some friends of the family invited me to visit Baños Morales in the Cajón del Maipo, which is 92 km from Santiago and about 1800 metres above sea level. Something that caught my attention is that this location is considered a village, because it only has 34 inhabitants but they can only live there for a period of the year! In winter everyone must evacuate because otherwise they would be trapped because of the snow and the closure of the roads for the possibility of avalanches. But Baños Morales in season has a great tourist attraction for owning thermal waters and being one of the entrance doors to El Morado Natural Monument, one of the most visited protected areas in all of Chile.

We went in August, so there was good weather and arrived after stopping several times on the way to take pictures. When we arrived, we discovered that CONAF's access was open to climb the glacier and we decided to go. At that time we did not know the duration of the trip hahahaha! From the access of the CONAF (1875 mamsl) you must follow a path to Aguas Panimávidas (2265 mamsl) at 3.4 km from the entrance, continuing until you reach the Laguna Morales (2380 mamsl) at 5.5 km from the access and finally reach the Mirador Glacear San Francisco (2500 masl) a little over 7 km from the entrance of the CONAF.
The ride lasts approximately 8 hours between the round trip, which represents about 16 kilometers of route.
* masl: meters above sea level

Somehow, we managed to reach Lake Morales only with willpower and although the trip was exhausting the landscape was impressive, we managed to observe some wild horses along with the native flora.
* As a warning, the road is dangerous not only because of the height at which it is made, but also because of the "rodados" that are similar to an avalanche but of rocks.

I would like to return as a personal challenge and reach the Mirador glacear El Morado because it is a very difficult climb and one must be prepared.

Here we can see that he was not wearing clothes that were suitable for trekking hahaha
